All your drive, fuzz and compressor needs from Union Tube & Transistor.

Made in Vancouver, Canada.

Deluxe versions have a wooden box, bandana, and laser engraved badge.

Bean Counter versions have a silkscreened graphic made to look like the badge, and no special packaging.

Here is how Union Tube describes their pedals…

C VERB
A limited release, Union Tube & Transistor’s first foray into digital is a reverb with two engines. The knob on the right blends in what you might think of as a large reverb that gets into almost infinite territory as you max out. The knob on the left is a reverse modulated reverb. The centre knob is a pitch for the reverse modulated which at noon does not change the sound but goes down (to the left) or up (to the right).

MORE
This pedal is a guitar preamp capable of sweeping from +5db up to +40db of clean gain. Its maximum undistorted output level is +16dBu and it is intended for use with a tube amp.

SONE BENDER
The Sone Bender is a germanium fuzz that borrows from the 60's classics but with updated usability. We wanted a fuzz that took from the gain of a Tone Bender but the ability to clean up like a Fuzz Face. We also wanted it to play nice with a daisy chain. And we wanted it louder. The Sone Bender is happier before your buffered pedals. Draw is 10ma.

TOUR BENDER
The Tour Bender is a silicon version of our Sone Bender. Draw is 10mA.

SWINDLE
Overdrive not enough but fuzz is too much? The Swindle may help you find your sweet spot. Draw is 12mA.

TSAR BOMBA
The Tsar Bomba is a Muff style circuit which is both 15dB quieter than a standard Muff and 5dB louder. One complaint occasionally heard with Muffs is that they can sound great on their own but get lost when played in a band. The Tsar Bomba employs an original design tone circuit which allows for very precise sculpting to help you carve out your place in a mix. Draw is 12mA.

BEELZEBUZZ
This one knob wonder is an evil distortion whose volume and gain increase with the single control. There is little sustain, but those looking for in your face gain may find it here. Draw is 10mA.

everMORE
An always on version of MORE that lets you toggle between two level settings. Since there is no off your minimum setting is +5db. The light toggles between dim for the left and bright for the right.

TONE DRUID
The Tone Druid is our first stand alone overdrive. Those familiar with our MORE will find similar tones here. The Tone Druid takes the sound of a MORE hitting a 12ax7 and adds a master volume to tame. Maximum clean boost is +10db, but it can get much louder as gain is added.
Power Requirements +9VDC @40mA

SHINY
Our take on a the hard to find Shin-Ei FY-2. Now louder and with less low end muddiness.

LAB
The LAB is an optical compressor. It uses custom optocouplers to achieve up to 30dB of musical-sounding compression.

We loved how in the recording studio even with tons of compression the old optical compressors such as the LA-2A, the LA-3, the LA-4 sounded smooth and natural.

The essence of the LAB's sound comes from the fast attack and slow release times of the custom optocoupler. The optocoupler's behaviour is quite complex, and program-dependent. It can't be modelled with simple resistor-capacitor networks. We wanted the pure response of the optocoupler to define the LAB's dynamics, and not supplement that with RC filtering.

To that end, we tried out just about every off-the-shelf optocoupler on the market, but ended up designing and manufacturing our own custom units. There's an interplay between dynamics, noise floor, distortion, and available compression on the one hand, and the opto's electrical parameters on the other. Since nothing commercially available fit the bill, we built our own.

With just two controls – compression and gain make-up – the LAB is fast and simple to use. It sounds great on bass and electric guitar, and the noise floor is impressive – quiet enough for studio use. It really shines on acoustic guitar, vocals and drums.

  LAB Optical Compressor Specifications:
Power Requirements +9VDC @40mA
Input Impedance 1MΩ
Output Impedance 100Ω
Frequency Response 20Hz–20KHz ±0.1dB
Maximum Input Level +7.5dBu
Maximum Output Level +10.0dBu
Compression/Gain-makeup 30dB
Noise Figure (Rs=10K) 3dB
For studio use you will need to attenuate going in and boost coming out of the LAB.
