1933 Gibson L-00

With its small sunburst, solid linings, and less-chunky neck carve, this Gibson L-00 is instantly recognizable as a ’33. The three-piece top is fairly uncommon for that year but, as this guitar was built over the winter of 1933 and ’34, it shares its DNA with both 1933 and 1934 models. It’s a wonderful L-00, offering the punch and quick attack of a mid-30s version and the warmth and overtone flower of an earlier 1933 build - the best of both worlds in our books. Add to that the fabulously comfortable soft V neck carve and you’ve got a winning combination of mid 1930s Gibson goodness!

This 1933 L-00 is in excellent condition and is low on repairs. It’s had a clean reset and refret, one of its top’s seams reglued, a few back brace ends perfectly reglued, and most recently a fret dress and new aged bone saddle installed by our shop. The guitar is crack free apart from a pickguard margin crack and a short 1” crack on the back, both of which have been glued. There is light strumming wear on the top and minor capo wear on the back of the neck but the guitar has less than average playwear on the whole. Original finish throughout, original tuners, nut, bridge and bridge plate. The top’s braces are in perfect shape and have never needed any regluing.

Soft V neck carve with a 1st fret depth of .945”. The neck is thinnest at the 2nd fret, at .925”, which is common on tapered headstock Gibsons. 1-3/4” nut width, 2-3/8” string spread at the saddle. We’ve set up the guitar with Darco 12s and an action of 5-6/64”. Playability is excellent and clean.

With deluxe hardshell case.
