Crafted in the Fujigen factory in Japan, Fender's TL52-80SPL was a tribute to Keith Richards' legendary 1954 Telecaster, dubbed "Micawber" by the Rollings Stones guitarist. No official Micawber Telecaster replica has ever been produced, making the TL52-80SPL the closest thing to a Keith Richards signature model to have been built by Fender in any significant number. Produced specifically for the Japanese market, these guitars are relatively hard to come by here in North America.
Outfitted with the same bridge position single coil and neck position humbucker pickup configuration as Richards’ Micawber, this Telecaster is a versatile guitar that can hold its own in a variety of musical scenarios. Expect classic Tele tones with excellent bite and clarity supported by a thick midrange response in the bridge position. The neck humbucker delivers a rich and creamy response with output that is well balanced with the bridge single coil. The neck profile is a medium C carve that, while not entirely historically accurate, is quite comfortable and makes for an easy playing experience.
This guitar is in good cosmetic condition overall. The only notable signs of playwear are tarnishing to the brass bridge plate, saddles, and neck pickup cover. The original blond finish is in near perfect condition, and the frets are unworn.
Scale is 25.5”. First fret depth of .836”, twelfth fret depth of .925", 1-5/8" nut width. Pickup DC values are 7.7k in the neck and 6.2k in the bridge. Weight of 7lb 13oz.
With Folkway gig bag.
