In near-mint condition, this 50-year-old Gibson Blue Ridge appears to have spent most of its life inside its original hard case. It presents incredibly well with the original hang tag in the case pocket. Its one modification is a replacement pickguard, as the original must have curled up. This guitar was bought new in Kitchener in 1975.
Despite its budget price tag at the outset (the Blue Ridge was positioned as a budget model in the Gibson pricelist when new), this example sounds really good and has a comfortable full-width neck. It features an X-braced spruce top and laminate rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck with rosewood board, and gloss lacquer finish.
The neck has a modern medium C carve and a 1-11/16” nut width. The scale is 25.5”.
Set-up in shop with 12s and a standard action of 5-6/64ths.
With original hardshell case and tag.
