The Waterloo WL-K by Collings has become a relatively rare bird in the five years since Collings cut Waterloo production to just two instruments per week. A lefty? That’s next-level.
This left-handed Waterloo WL-K sold through Folkway when it was new. In the years since then it has seen moderate use but remains in excellent condition and is without cracks or repairs. There are dings on the headstock’s edges and a few others on the body, light fingernail wear by the soundhole, and the neck’s finish has become glossy from use. The frets show very little wear and play perfectly and the set-up, done here, is lovely. The action is fingerstyle low; the guitar is strung with 12-53s.
X braced spruce top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood fretboard, ebony bridge. Thin lacquer finish, bone through-cut saddle, ebony nut and pins. There is an output jack that serves as an endpin, but isn’t attached to a pickup (the pickup, a Baggs M80 was removed and is in the case pocket).
Round neck with 1-3/4” nut, .890” at the 1st fret, 24.75” scale, 2-3/8” string spacing at the nut.
With original hardshell case.
