The Guild T-100 Slim Jim was introduced in 1958, the year this guitar was built. The T-100 was the company’s first 2” deep hollow body and featured a single-bound cut-away body, single Franz pickup, a bound fingerboard with dot inlays, and a 7-ply pickguard. Unique to the very earliest T-100 models is the simple script logo on the headstock rather than the Chesterfield inlay that arrived later in ’58.
The guitar is in excellent condition and is largely original. Apart from some repaired binding shrinkage this T-100 is without issue or significant flaw. The beautifully preserved sunburst finish shows crazing throughout and some light flaking along the body’s side at the bass-side lower bout. With a recent professional refret using modern spec wire the guitar delivers excellent playability. Action is currently set to 4-5/64ths at the 12th fret, with adjustment room under the bridge if needed. This late '50s Guild is original apart from a set of drop-in replacement turners.
The Franz pickup has a cleaner top-end than a P-90 and enough warmth and bass-end presence to work well for blues and jazz players alike.
Scale length of 24.75", nut width of 1-5/8", 1st fret depth of 0.875", and 12th fret depth of 0.940". Pickup DC value of 6.8K weight of 5 lbs 4 oz.
With hardshell case.
