Atkin's Dustbowl series instruments pay homage to the all-mahogany flattops that shipped from Nazareth, Pennsylvania in the late 1920s and 1930s. The 0012S, in particular, draws inspiration from the 12-fret 00-17 guitars produced between 1929 and 1932.
A lightly-built mahogany guitar with a small bridge plate, scalloped bracing, a 14-1/4" body width, and a 24.9" scale length, the 0012S offers a wonderfully open and dry voice with supportive mids, rich trebles, succinct bass, and clear fundamental. It's a wonderfully touch-sensitive instrument, allowing a player to coax out incredible dynamics with a controlled right hand. The guitar responds well to both fingerstyle playing and a light to medium attack with a flatpick, making it a well-rounded and versatile flat top.
The vintage-inspired neck carve is a soft V with a 1-3/4" nut width. It's a remarkably comfortable neck that feels incredibly natural in the hand, much like many of the best necks carved in the 1930s. String spread at the bridge is 2-1/4", which offers room for fingerstyle playing.
With Atkin hardshell case.
