1960 Gibson ES-330T

The single-pickup ES-330T was offered between 1959 and 1963 and is among the rarer models produced during the Golden Era of Gibson electric production. The double-pickup ES-330TD was built in far greater numbers during those same years and remained in the catalog into the mid 1970s.

Built in early 1960, this Gibson ES-330T presents and feels like a 1959 example with its gold '50s bonnet control knobs and large neck carve. In excellent cosmetic condition, this ES-330 is an undeniably good-looking instrument. Playwear is minimal, with a handful of chips, dents, and scratches throughout. All original apart from a new nut and the pickguard mounting screws, this ES-330T is equipped with its original "no-wire" ABR bridge and single-line keystone tuners. The guitar's only flaw is an enlarged pickup cavity that was altered to accommodate a humbucker. The enlarged route and pickup ring mounting holes are hidden by the P-90 cover, and the original P-90 has been reinstalled.

As we have repeated many times over, Gibson hollow-bodies with a single middle-position P-90 are some of the finest rhythm guitars ever built, and this ES-330T is no exception. The original P-90 pickup delivers a warm, open, and powerful voice that pushes the front end of an amplifier beautifully while retaining clear note separation. The guitar's fully hollow construction imparts an airy quality to the amplified guitar tone that enhances the natural voice of the P-90 pickup. With original volume and tone pots that are quite responsive and expressive, this ES-330T offers a wider tonal palette than one might expect.

Boasting a full and round neck carve that is nothing short of heavenly, this 1960 Gibson ES-330T is an incredibly enjoyable guitar to play. The original frets have plenty of height left and play well across the fingerboard.

Pickup DC value of 8.7K. Scale length of 24.75". First fret depth of 0.902", twelfth fret depth of 0.986". Nut width of 1-11/16". Weight of 5lbs 9oz.
