Atkin Guitars designed the Hop Picker as an homage to Gibson’s square shouldered dreadnoughts of the early 1960s. With its square shouldered dreadnought body, short-scale neck with pearl-inlaid rosewood fretboard, belly-up bridge, and colourfully engraved-and-painted pickguard, the Atkin HP certainly wears its inspiration proudly but presents it with a modern small-shop twist.

The guitar features a scalloped-braced torrefied Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides. It’s lightly constructed and offers longer sustain, more power and headroom, better dynamics, and an arguably better feeling neck than those 1960s originals it is inspired by. The drop-in saddle bridge as a lot to do with the tonal differences, but the Hop Picker’s body construction and bracing are altogether different than what Gibson was doing in the early 1960s.

Modern C-shaped neck with 1-11/16” nut width and .865” 1st fret depth. 24-7/8” scale length; string spread of 2-3/16” at the saddle.

The guitar features a gently aged finish with fine crazing in the lacquer, slightly oxidized tuners and gentle aging of the plastic tuner buttons. There is no mechanical faux-aging.

With deluxe hardshell case.
