With its light build, solid linings, small-center sunburst finish, and comfortably rounded V-shaped neck, this L-00 has all the 1933 features. It’s from one of the larger 1933 L-00 FON batches we have on record (762), which are consistently great sounding guitars. Expect a mix of power, a dark and smoky open bass and low-mid response, robust and rounded trebles and incredible dynamics and touch-sensitivity, which is what these 1933 L-00s are known for.

This example is mostly original and in good shape. The pickguard is a nicely made replacement and there are two repaired wood seams below the bridge (it’s a 4-piece red spruce top). A few brace ends have been cleanly reglued, and the new aged saddle and set up were handled by our shop. Original tuners and nut, original unmodified bridge, and original finish throughout. There a few insignificantly small cracks on the back and sides that should be mentioned and then forgotten about. The neck has never been reset, the frets are most likely original and remain very playable, and the current setup offers an action of 5.5-7 64ths at the 12th fret with a bit more that 1/16” of saddle above the bridge.

The neck has soft V carve with rounded shoulders and a comfortably rolled fretboard edge. 1-3/4 nut, .925” first fret thickness, 24.75” scale, 2-3/8” string spread at the saddle.

Red spruce top, mahogany back and sides. Rosewood board and bridge, ebony nut, bone saddle.

With non original Gibson hardshell case.
