1953 D'Angelico New Yorker
18 inches of some of the most inspiring Jazz tone in you'll find in Canada. This D'Angelico New Yorker is a wonderful sounding instrument, with an X-braced warmth, and moody intimate voice. It has great attack, and all kinds of expression. D'Angelico guitars are known both for their balance, smoothness, and their subtlety, and are among the most inspiring guitars you may have the opportunity to play.
This example was built in 1953, and was clearly vey well used over the decades. The neck finish is worn bare, except in the first position (those Jazz guys!), and the back shows an area of buckle-wear that's been touched up and subsequently worn through again. The pickguard is a nicely made reproduction and features a hand-made Kent Armstrong single coil pickup with pickguard mounted volume and tone controls. One 5" section of binding has been replaced, and there are a few smaller sections of binding that are showing some decomposition. The guitar is otherwise completely original, and quite glorious. The tailpiece and bridge are perfect, and the original Grover Imperial tuning machines are gorgeous.
The photos provided should answer most questions about the guitar's condition and originality, but we are happy to answer any deeper questions over the phone or in person.
Original neck-set and good neck angle, perfect top arch, no body breaks or damage other than a very cleanly glued hairline crack below the pickguard. Original pearl is intact, and apart from the finish repair on the guitar's back the original finish is completely intact and unmodified. 25" Scale, 1-9/16" nut width.

With original Lifton Hardshell Case.
