1976 Gibson ES-175T
Gibson offered the fully-hollow thin body ES-175T for a short time in the late 1970s. The guitar was spec'd nearly identically to the venerable standard model ES-175 but made with a body depth of 1-13/16”. The ES-175T was built to appeal to jazz, blues, and rock players alike, and offered great versatility in its design. Throw a set of flat-wound strings on it and it's about as smooth and jazz-clubby as they come, but roundwounds and the bridge pickup are big stage ready and have a meaty, chunky cut.
This example has been set up in our shop and plays easily. The original frets are nicely dressed and show very little wear so they play cleanly and fast. The guitar is factory original except for a replacement bridge base that’s been carefully fit to the top. There is an extra strap-button hole on the back of the neck, and a little bit of finish damage hiding under the bridge foot. Original finish is in very good shape, with much less than average wear and tear.
Patent number pickups with 7.5 k resistance, pots coded to 1976. Full-width neck with modern full-C carve, 1-11/16” nut. 24.75” scale.
With hardshell case
