Chris Lounsbury Jr. Giant

Our latest guitar by Hamilton, Ontario based Chris Lounsbury is a wonderfully unique small jumbo that features a 15-3/4” wide body with a 4-5/8” depth, figured maple back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. It’s somewhat reminiscent of Gibson’s J-185 model, but with ivoroid accents, and a luthier’s eye for the details.

A throaty guitar with an open and woody midrange and excellent string to string balance, this Lounsbury offers a wonderfully present and well-articulated bass with plenty of presence. It favors a medium attack, but is equally capable played fingerstyle or with a pick. Like other medium-large maple guitars, this instrument offers a subtle corrective compression that brings a little extra volume to lightly played notes and controls accidentally hard-hit ones and marries sustain and warmth.

C-shaped neck with a 1-23/32” nut width, 25.4” scale, and 2-1/4” string spread at the saddle. Bound Macassar ebony fingerboard with ivoroid inlays, Macassar ebony rectangle bridge, Macassar ebony headstock overlay with Great Lakes silhouette inlaid in ivoroid, and maple headstock perimeter inlay. Scalloped X top bracing and radial back bracing. Shellac finish, with Lush sunburst top. Bone nut, saddle, pins; Grover vintage-style tuning machines.
