2016 Gibson SJ-200

Gibson’s SJ-200 Standard is the company’s flagship flat-top and remains quite similar in specifications and design to the SJ-200’s built through the 1950s. With 17” of figured maple and perfectly quartered Sitka spruce, the J-200 showcases some of Gibson’s finest tonewoods, and adds accents of gold hardware, pearl inlays, multi-layered bindings, and the iconic moustache bridge and decorated pickguard that have come to define Gibson acoustics.

This example is in near-perfect condition and has been set-up here at Folkway. We’ve removed the factory-installed LR Baggs Anthem pickup as it was malfunctioning but have included it in the case pocket. A very clean guitar with no repairs or issues, the only flaw is a touched-up scratch on the guitar’s bass side, a few inches from the neck heel. Almost no fretwear, and no appreciable playwear to the finish.

Big and balanced maple jumbo voice that’s perfect for vocal accompaniment and strumming. These guitars were originally designed for the Cowboy singers of the 1930s and are still perfect in that role today, even if you’re not really a cowboy (or girl).

1-23/32” nut width, round neck, 25.5” scale.
