In unbelievably fine condition, this J-50 is among the last to ship from Kalamazoo with 1964 features. The neck is full-width, the headstock angle is 17 degrees, and the original tuners are single-line Klusons. It plays beautifully thanks to a fresh set up with new bone nut and saddle by our shop, and it offers up that classic adjustable-bridge Gibson tone, with natural compression, strong attack, pretty sustain, open low end, and a little sparkle in the treble – all the attributes of a great strumming guitar.

No repairs, no cracks, not much playwear, and frets that look like they were replaced in our shop in recent years. There are a few visible dents in the top’s lower bass bout, and a dime-sized spot of flaked-away finish on the back of the neck behind the nut that you can’t feel. We’ve set the guitar up with 12-54 strings and an action of 4.5-5.5 64ths. The nut, saddle, and bridge pins were installed here; the guitar is otherwise completely original and untouched.

The neck has a C shape of the standard early 60s profile. 1st fret depth measures .782”, 9th fret measures .937”. 24.75” scale, 2-1/8” string spread at the saddle.
