An excellent-sounding late model from Gibson’s Bozeman plant, this 2012 SJ-200 offers an open voice with an impressive bass response, strong fundamental, and all of the power that one would expect from a guitar of this size. The J-200 responds well to both a heavy and light attack with a flat pick, making it an all-around excellent strummer. Though this style of guitar is not often associated with fingerstyle playing, this SJ-200 responds with a beautiful warmth when played with fingers.
While many of the modern SJ-200 Studio models are built with walnut back and sides, this 12-year-old model is made with the maple back and sides of the Standard model. Finished in a beautiful sunburst with a nicely figured set of maple on the instrument's back, this SJ-200 is a gorgeous guitar. The outline on the pickguard is a nice touch, making the guitar quite a sharp-looking package. Stage ready with a Fishman Ellipse Aura pickup and preamp system.
Scale length of 25.4", nut width of 1-11/16", 2-3/16" spacing at bridge, 1st fret depth of 0.834", 12th fret depth of 0.886", weight of 5lbs 8oz.
