This 1968 Stratocaster offers incredible tone and an authentic patina. It’s the kind of vintage Fender solidbody that puts most modern replicas to shame.

With its lightly faded original sunburst finish, rosewood fingerboard and large peghead, this late 1960s Stratocaster presents beautifully. Scratches, chips and dents throughout the body and an area of worn-off finish on the treble side of the neck tell the story of a Stratocaster that has been well-loved and played for countless hours. There is no evidence of refinishing or overspray anywhere on the guitar. There is a ¼” dent of the face that’s been lightly buffed out.

While the guitar saw a great deal of use, it was well cared for and hasn’t fallen victim to any modifications. The pickups, potentiometers, and wiring harness remain completely original with no signs of tampering or and no modification to the pickups. The green Nissei 100 .1K 100V capacitor is original and correct for the '68 era.

The trio of original grey-bottom pickups deliver a versatile array of rich and clear Stratocaster tones with excellent note definition and dynamics. All three pickups read in the 5.5K range and are well balanced with each other. The late '60s neck, with a first fret depth of 0.854", twelfth fret depth of 0.940", and classic 1-5/8" nutwidth sits in the hand quite comfortably and feels full without being cumbersome. The guitar has been professionally refretted in recent years with wire that is slightly larger than factory spec, making for an instrument that meets modern playability standards. The guitar weighs in at a respectable 8lbs 1oz.

With incredible tone, playability, and vibe, this 1968 Fender Stratocaster is the perfect addition to any collection, studio, or touring arsenal that is lacking a fantastic vintage Strat.
