2017 Martin Custom Shop 0000-14

A 0000-14 fret custom special spec’d by George Gruhn for his shop and built by Martin’s custom shop, this guitar offers a suite of hand-selected features that blend vintage and modern Martin tone, looks, and feel.

Along the lines of an OM-28, this 0000-14 features an Adirondack spruce and rosewood body with forward-placed scalloped bracing, and vintage Herringbone body appointments complete with ivoroid bindings. The neck is built with Martin’s modified V carve, a 1-3/4” nutwidth, OM scale of 25.4”, and vintage string spread of 2-5/16” at the bridge. The neck is appointed with old-style 45 fingerboard inlays and pearl vertical CF Martin logo in its bound headstock. Waverly tuners, bone angle-bottomed nut, bone compensated saddle, and red-eye bridge pins complete the package tastefully.

The guitar is in near-new condition and has been set-up in our shop. Playability is as good as it gets, with current string action at the 12th fret measuring 5-6 64ths.

With its extra body width and red spruce top, this 0000-14 offers increased bass response and volume as compared to a standard OM-28 model. It’s a great sounding guitar that offers excellent headroom without compromising treble string fatness. It’s well suited to both flatpicking or fingerstyle.
