1915 Gibson A-

A wonderfully clean and original ‘teens pumpkin-top Gibson A- with a surprisingly open and expressive voice. No cracks, tight seams, original finish throughout, three-piece top. Set-up in-shop, the instrument plays easily. Original frets showed some grooving at the first 6 frets when we took these pictures and have since been corrected.

The original finish is beautiful and shows little wear, original tuners work well, and the balance of the mandolin’s hardware is in similarly excellent condition.

It’s certainly above average in tone, and offers more low-end presence, warmth, and openness than we’ve come to expect of Gibson A’s from the 1910s.
