1933 Gibson L-00
This guitar was built during the ‘Sweet Spot’ of late 1933, as we like to call it. Its top is light-to-medium in build heft, and it features solid linings and a wonderfully comfortable rounded V neck. It sounds open, warm, dark, and alive, and is a very expressive guitar – trading the volume and punch typical of later L-00s for the subtlety and smokiness of earlier models. It’s an exceptional sounding instrument, but hey, I’m heavily biased thanks to owning an identical L-00 from right around the same time!
In gorgeous condition, this guitar is without cracks or any significant repairs. A few brace ends have been reglued, the neck has been cleanly reset, and the saddle is a reproduction. The original lacquered bridge is unmodified, and the bridge plate is perfect. No top deflection of note, and only slight wear and tear to its finish. Original tuners, nut, frets, and 5 of 6 bridge pins. In short, it’s about as good as they come.
Soft V neck carve with 1-3/4” nut, 24.75” scale, action of 5-6 64ths with full height saddle.
