1943 Martin 0-18
This Wartime 0-18 is remarkably light. It is built with ebony neck reinforcement and a delicate body, a scalloped-braced red spruce top, and war-era Kluson tuners without headstock bushings. It weighs in at 3.1 lbs, and is among the lightest steel-strung Martin guitars we’ve encountered.
In excellent condition, the guitar is crack-free with the exception of a small b-string pickguard crack and shows very little playwear. The neck has been reset and the frets and saddle replaced, but its otherwise completely original, including nut and bridge pins. There are no brace repairs and the bridge and plate are unaltered. The pickguard appears to have been reglued, and there is a spruce reinforcement glued to the underside of the top presumably there in an attempt to flatten the cupping caused by the pickguard. The lacquer finish shows crazing, but very little wear. Set up by us with 12’s and an action of 5-7 64ths.
The neck has a comfortable C/V neck carve of medium depth with a nutwidth of 1-11/16. Scale of 24.9”, string spread at the saddle is 2-1/8”.
With 60’s hardshell case
