1945 Gibson Banner J-45
This Banner J-45 has been well played but remains in very good condition and has had some high quality restoration recently. The guitar shows a well-executed finish touchup below the bridge, a few cleanly repaired back cracks, and a nicely completed neck reset that all appear to have been recently completed elsewhere. In our shop, Mark recontoured the replacement bridge to mid 1940’s spec, replaced the saddle and pins, replaced the nut, and installed new frets. The end result is a Banner J-45 that plays perfectly and looks great.
With the combination of one-piece maple neck, truss rod, and scallop-braced Sitka top, this Banner J-45 offers the clarity and presence this model is famous for, with the warmth and midrange focus of Sitka.
The neck has a round carve and moderate depth. By Banner standards it’s on the small side, but by post-banner standards it feels large. The nut is 1-3/4”, depth at the 1st fret is .954”, scale is 24-3/4”.
Original finish throughout except for the finish repair by the bridge. Original tuners. Original bridge plate, braces are well glued, and there’s no evidence of sloppy repairwork. Set up with 12-54 strings and an action of 5-6 64ths.
With modern hardshell case
