1949 Gibson BR-6

No Serial # or FON, pots dated 38th week of 1949. Produced from 1946 to roughly 1960, the BR-6 was Gibson's most popular post-war lap steel model. The instrument was originally sold together with its namesake amp as a 'special Hawaiian outfit' package for a whopping $99.50! By 1949 the BR-6 steel was available to purchase by itself for $52.50 and featured a bound all-mahogany body, Cremona sunburst finish and classic hourglass body.

Aged white binding, volume and tone controls on the treble side, un-numbered barrel knobs and gold control plate and hand rest. A non-adjustable Alnico pickup has this steel sounding warm with just the right amount of cut. The instrument is in great condition and is all-original, save for the 50's era Kluson tuners which are appropriate but a few years younger than the rest of the steel.
