1950 Gibson L-7CN
17” cutaway archtop with spruce top and maple back, sides, and neck; original tuners, bridge, tailpiece, and finish. Excellent playability with a good neck angle, great-playing frets, and a comfortable Jazz set up, with 12-52 strings.
This guitar has seen a lot of playing over the years but has few repairs and is crack-free. That said, there is a section of binding missing around the headstock face and a chip in the treble-side headstock corner, there are three strap-button holes in the heel of the neck, an extra pickguard mounting hole in the top that’s hidden beneath the pickguard, minor top damage in front of the bridge from a pickup that’s long since removed, a section of lifting binding inside the cut-away, and general playwear and life-wear to the instrument’s original finish. All that said, it remains positively gorgeous.
If you’re looking for a mint-condition guitar keep looking, but if you’re after an incredible sounding, playing, and looking 17” long-scale cutaway Gibson archtop you’re in the right place. This L-7CN offers up clear fundamental, articulate overtones and warm and woody midrange. And with a well-worn deep and round late 40’s neck Gibson neck carve, the playing experience is heavenly.
Neck thickness at the 1st fret is .897”. 1-11/16” nut, 25.4” scale.
With original hardshell case
