1956 Fender Stratocaster
The guitar’s body appears to have been over-painted with red in its past. We suspect the original finish is what’s still on the body, but it’s possibly been over-sprayed and aged after the red paint was removed. That said, it could also be a nicely done refin. Hard to call it. The body is ash, and all the contours look great. The pickguard, bridge, saddles, jack cup, knobs and likely the pickup covers are all original issue too.
This 1956 Strat weighs in at 7lbs 5oz. Setup in-shop. Excellent playability with full height frets that show not much wear. It’s a lot of guitar for the money, especially considering how highly prized Ron Ellis’s 50/60 Strat pickups are.
