1957 Martin 000-18
In overall excellent condition, this 1957 Martin 000-18 has seen its neck reset in recent years and has had a few small cracks glued. The bridge and plate are original and in excellent condition and there are no internal repairs or added cleats. You’ll need to look hard to find the cracks, as all are very tight and well glued. There are two top cracks between the bridge and bottom edge, a pickguard crack under the B string, and two short back cracks stemming up from the lower binding. There are four small plugged screwholes in the top near the soundhole, which must have been left from an old pickup’s mounting screws. The frets, nut, and saddle were redone by our shop a year back. Playability is excellent, with a full height saddle and an action of 5-6 64ths at the 12th fret when strung with 12-54 strings.
Mahogany and Sitka spruce body with tortoise celluloid bindings and pickguard, rosewood board and bridge, bone nut and saddle, and original ‘50s Waverly tuning machines.
The neck has a typically compact 50’s feel, with a 1-11/16” nut, .804” depth at the 1st fret, 24.9” scale, .981” depth at 9th fret, and 2-1/8” string spread at the saddle. Weight is 3.7 lbs.
With non-original hardshell case.
