1958 Fender Bassman 5F6-A
A largely original amplifier apart from a replaced handle, this 1958 Fender Bassman features original Triad transformers, Jensen speakers, and 5F6-A circuitry. The 1957 P10R speakers have been re-coned, the original two prong power cable has been changed to a grounded cable, and the amp has seen leaky capacitors updated as a part of general servicing. Shielding has been added to the back of the upper back panel.
The main harp amp of a prominent Canadian harmonica player, this '58 Bassman was gigged for decades and has seen countless stages across North America. With original tattered tweed that looks great, this Bassman wears the scars of its decades of service proudly.
This 40-Watt amplifier delivers full bodied cleans with excellent chime and definition at lower volumes. As the volume sweep is opened up, wonderfully rich, creamy and harmonically full overdrive tones are achieved. This amplifier sounds nothing short of incredible, and it's easy to understand why Jim Marshall chose the 56F-A Bassman as the basis for his JTM-45 model.
Speaker codes of 220744 and 220733. Tube chart stamp of "HD," designating an April 1958 build.
