1959 Gibson J-45 ADJ

This stunning J-45 delivers the quintessential adjustable bridge Gibson tone. The magic ingredients to the iconic sound of these guitars - the thumpy, warm, compressed, dark tone that somehow isn’t muddy or flabby, and maintains its definition and ‘life’ regardless of how lightly the guitar is played – are the original small, solid maple bridge plate, the early style glazed porcelain bridge saddle, the full-carve 50’s neck, and the thin celluloid late 50’s pickguard. Add these ingredients together on a guitar that’s been well cared for and properly set up and the sonic end result is Gibson acoustic heaven.

This 1959 J-45 offers that tone, and it remains in remarkably fine condition. It’s crack-free and shows remarkably little wear, and apart from an undetectably replaced bridge and new frets by our shop, it’s completely original.

Sitka spruce X braced top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood adjustable bridge and fretboard. New frets (80/40 wire), and setup low for a light touch. The neck has a round carve, 1st fret depth of .854”, and a nut width that’s just a touch shy of 1-11/16”. The finish remains in great shape with just a little wear and tear to show for its 65 years and a minor cigarette burn on the front bass edge of the headstock.

With original chip board case.
