1960 Gretsch 6124 Anniversary

The Anniversary model was introduced to commemorate Gretsch's 75th year in the biz -- but it sold well and was produced well into the company's 80s. This example is a single Filter'Tron model, built in early 1960 -- before the specs for the 6124 changed to the Hi-Lo'Tron single-coil pickup.

A completely original guitar apart from its frets, this 6124 has been well treated through its life. It was owned and used by a professional jazz musician from the 1970's through to now, and we've left his heavier flat wound stings and acoustic set-up on the guitar as it sounds great set-up this way. The action measures 5-7 64ths at the 12th fret, and there is no further adjustment room left on the Space Control bridge. Sanding the original bridge base or replacing the bridge with a lower-height Tune-O-Matic bridge would allow for a lower action without necessitating a neck reset, but it's close. The pickup is located close to the strings thanks to the low neck angle, as well.

16" maple laminate body with trestle bracing and single cutaway; single-bound top and back, sunburst finish. Original Waverly tuning machines, bone nut, and all hardware. Parts are all in excellent condition, and the electronics work perfectly.

Round neck, 1-11/16" nut, 24.5" scale.

With original hardshell case
