1961 Fender Tremolux

The piggyback Tremolux replaced the large box tweed version in 1961. The new amplifier featured Fender’s 6G9 circuitry, and the first of these featured EL84 power tubes for a short while. By the time this amp left the factory, Fender was back to using 6L6 tubes in the power section, after their EL84 schematic proved dangerously flawed! The 6G9-A circuit would remain until the AA763 black panel era Tremolux redesign in 1963.

This example is an excellent sounding amplifier that’s been serviced and is in great working order. The power transformer has been replaced, and the pair of 2x10 speakers in the closed-back cab are modern Jensen P10Qs. The amp offers about 35 watts of power, excellent clean headroom, lush trem, and the mid-range punch of a closed-back 2x10 cab.
