1961 Gibson ES-335TDC

The “Dot-Neck” era of the ES-335 aligns with the golden years of Gibson’s most sought after Electric Spanish Thinline model. Produced from 1958 into early 1962, these first ES-335s feature “Mickey-Mouse ear” bodies, PAF pickups, no-wire ABR bridges, nickel hardware, and 1-11/16 nut widths - all of the most desirable specs one can find on a 335.

Built in the latter half of the “Dot-Neck” era, this vibrant cherry red 1961 ES-335TD is a truly exceptional example of the model. The unfaded finish shows minimal signs of player-caused wear and the nickel hardware is almost entirely untarnished.

A particularly lightweight 1961 Gibson ES-335TDC loaded with an excellent-sounding pair of PAF pickups, this guitar offers full bodied and harmonically rich tones with a beautiful airy top-end. While the fat-neck 335s the late ‘50s are historically the most sought-after examples, many notable guitarists in recent years have discovered the merits of the 60-62 Dots, as their thinner necks impart something extra special in the top-end sonic quality of these instruments.

This guitar is in excellent condition and is unmodified with the exception of non-original solder on the bridge pickup cover, which suggests that it was removed in the past.

Housed in its original brown and pink Lifton hardshell case, this 1961 Gibson ES-335TDC is an incredible package that would be at home in any collection, studio, or stage.

1-11/16” nut width, 24.75” scale. Neck depth of .813” at the 1st fret. Pickup DC readings of 8.1k (bridge) and 7.9 (neck), 5.4lbs.
