1961 Martin 00-21NY
This example features a back and side set of dark-hued richly grained Brazilian rosewood, and quartered Sitka spruce top. The purflings and old style 28 rosette are a mix of wooden and celluloid lines, and the body is bound in tortoise-celluloid. Dotless Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, small rectangular rosewood bridge with dotted pins, three-on-a-strip Waverly tuning machines with cream plastic buttons, and satin lacquer finish throughout.
The guitar is 100% original and unmodified but for a recent cleanly done neck reset and a new bone saddle. The action is comfortable for fingerstyle, and the original frets show almost no wear. No finish damage or wear of any significance.
The guitar has a piano-like cavernous largeness, with beautiful clarity and definition, a colorful and expressive midrange openness, and a nicely present bass end. Truly a fingerstyle instrument, this 00-21NY would appeal to most anyone with hi-fi sensibilities -- looking for the best sounding rosewood 12-fretter at anything close to this price tag.
00-sized 12 fret body, 24.9" scale length, late 1920's neck feel with a very rounded over V profile, 1-7/8" nutwidth, 2-1/4 string spread at the bridge.
With original hardshell case.
