1964/65 Gretsch 6119 Chet Atkins Tennessean

Introduced in 1958, the 6119 Chet Atkins Tennessean was originally designed as a simplified student version of the 6120. It evolved fairly quickly into the model pictured here, with a pair of HiLoTon pickups, 2” deep Electrotone hollow body with painted-on F-holes, and a reddish walnut finish.

This example was built in late 1964 or early 1965 and is in quite remarkable condition. It’s completely original but for a period-correct replacement pickguard and a great refret, and it is set-up perfectly. There’s not much wear to point out, and the binding is remarkably intact. Apart from celluloid rot on the heel cap, the binding is in largely in very good shape. Original hardware, great looks and unfaded finish.

Round and full feeling neck carve with a nut width of 1-11/16” and 24.75” scale.

With original hardshell case
