1965 Fender Deluxe

Fender’s non-reverb blackface Deluxe features the famous blackface AB763 circuit, and offers some killer clean headroom and power, with plenty of gain available if you want to tap into it. Essentially the same as the ‘Normal’ channel of a Deluxe Reverb, the non-reverb Deluxe offers a lot of value for the buck and takes pedals really well too.

This example is quite an early build, from the second production run with a date stamp of June 1965. The faceplate reads Fender Electric Instruments (pre CBS), and the grill is without the Fender logo that most Blackface fenders are equipped with.

The amp has been serviced and now has an output transformer from a 1976 Deluxe Reverb that helps this Deluxe put out about 28 watts of power! The speaker is an AlNiCo Celestion Blue, which sounds like a perfect choice for this amp.

Cosmetically, this Deluxe is in quite lovely shape, without rips or damage to the Tolex. The grill has a small tear, and the original handle has a crack in the rubber.
