1966 Gibson ES-125TDC

The production run of Gibson’s ES-125TDC was 1960-70. It was a fairly popular model in Gibson’s ES-125 Series and sold well through the mid 1960s. With its full-hollow 16” single-cut thin body, the ES-125TDC picked up where the nearly identical ES-225TDC left-off upon being discontinued in 1959. But with a standard trapeze tailpiece, rather than the 225’s poorly designed wrap-around trapeze, the 125 proved a much more playable guitar.

This example dates from 1966 and features the cherry sunburst finish and 1-9/16” nut width that were typical of that year. It is in very good condition and is completely original but for an aftermarket Tune-O-Matic bridge (the original is in the case pocket) which allows for improved intonation.

Frets appear to have been recently dressed, finish shows average wear, original wiring is completely intact, as is all of the guitar’s hardware. Set-up in our shop, this guitar plays beautifully. P-90 pickups read 8.8 kohms and sound fabulous.

Typical small/fast neck carve, with narrow nut and a full rounded profile. 24.75” scale, 1-9/16” nut.

With modern hardshell case
