1967 Martin D-18

A particularly lively, open, resonant, and big sounding 60's D-18 with a great set-up and top-notch playability. The second half of the 1960's saw some fairly major changes in Martin guitar construction, starting with drop-in saddles and black pickguards in 1965 and '66, respectively. This guitar features the same T-bar neck support that Martin had started using in 1934, but the change to the hollow steel tube happened about 1000 guitars after this one rolled off the line, followed shortly thereafter by the infamous rosewood bridgeplates in the middle of '68. All told, this D-18 is much more like an earlier 60's model than a later one, and has the sound to show it.

It's in great condition with next to no playwear, a clean neck reset, and excellent original frets. The pickguard has developed a bit of curl, there's a cleated B-string crack, and there is a pair of repaired hairline cracks on the guitar's back. Original Pat. Pend. Grover Rotomatics, original nut, and unmodified bridge. Most recently, the saddle was replaced by us and we fitted a new set of Antique Acoustic unslotted bridge pins while we were at it. There is a full 3/32” of saddle above the bridge with a 5-7 64ths action.

Full-feeling rounded neck carve with a nut width of 1-11/16”, scale of 25.4” and a string spread of 2-1/8” at the bridge.

With original hardshell case
