1968 Fender Pro Reverb

An exceptional sounding big, full, and clean early Silverface Fender Pro Reverb that’s in near mint cosmetic condition. This amplifier looks like it was never moved and was kept covered for its entire existence. If you’re into the look of a drip-edge Silverface, this one has got it going on in spades.

The Silverface Pro Reverb is a 2x12 combo that has the same power transformer and 6L6 tubes as a Super Reverb but was fitted with a smaller output transformer which brings out more breakup and sag earlier on the volume control. It’s a 40 watt amp but offers an earlier breakup than a super and is widely regarded as one of the best sounding larger amps Fender ever designed. Like a Twin Reverb, but with about half the power and a usable breakup volume.

This example is labeled AA165 on the Tube Chart, however the previous owner indicated to us that the amp was actually originally wired as an AB668 and so he modified it back to AA165 specs for its best possible Blackface tone. It’s a downright great amp, so we suspect he was on to something. The original transformers (all dating to late 1967 or early 1968) are all present, the original 12” Utah speakers are dated late 1967, and every part of the cabinet is original, including, faceplate, grill, controls, handle, drip-edge, and tolex.
