1969 Gibson ES-335TDC

Gibson's ES-335 has graced countless stages and recordings since it's introduction in 1958. Cherry Red was offered as a finish option for the model beginning in 1960, and an icon was born.

Built in 1969, this ES-335TDC is an excellent player-friendly example of a late '60s 335, with specs and features that predate many of the Norlin-era changes. This guitar features a no-volute three-piece mahogany neck, orange label, pantograph logo with a separated "o" and "b," and no "Made in USA" stamp.

Equipped with a great-sounding pair of original T-Top pickups, this guitar offers rich and powerful humbucker tones with excellent top-end clarity. The pickups read 7.5k (B) and 7.3k (N) and are well balanced. With a first fret neck depth of 0.846", twelfth fret depth of 1.054", and full shoulders, the neck fills the hand comfortably and makes it easy to forget that the nut width is a lean 1-9/16".

Replaced tuners, control knobs, and one of the potentiometers. The stop-tail bridge is a modification that we don’t mind too much as it makes this guitar more player-friendly than an otherwise all original example. The original frets play cleanly across the fingerboard and are not in immediate need of replacing. The original serial number is fully legible and unmodified on the orange label inside the F-hole, but the last two digits of the serial number on the peghead have been restamped. The pickup covers were off at one point, and a new string ground wire has been added.

With non-original hardshell case.
