1972 Fender Jazz Bass

A beautifully clean and original early 70s Fender Jazz bass that shows minimal playwear. Natural finished ash body, bound maple neck, 70’s logo and accents, and no changed parts.

34” scale neck with a nutwidth of 1-7/16” and a 1st fret depth of .85”. The pickups have both recently been rewound by Alistair Miller and read 5.8k and 7.5k; they sounds great. Original pots date to mid 1972. Set-up in-shop with round wound strings. 10.5 lbs.

You’ll notice the finish color at the 18th fret is darker than the rest of the fretboard. We can’t explain it. There has been no repair or modification, no fretwork or woodwork, and there’s nothing obvious going on. Our theory is that there was a finish flaw that was repaired with lacquer at the factory before the guitar was originally shipped out in 1972, and over time the lacquer has darkened more-so than the poly that the rest of the neck is finished with.
