1979 Gibson Les Paul 25/50 Anniversary

Built in limited numbers in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Les Paul and Les Paul’s 50th anniversary in the guitar player business, the Les Paul 25/50 was a uniquely appointed variation of the model, designed to appeal to collectors and musicians alike.

The 25/50 features a maple-capped mahogany body with front and back multi-line purflings, a 5-piece maple and ebony laminate neck with bound ebony fretboard and pearl inlays, a mix of gold and silver hardware, brass nut, a 25/50 Les Paul Commemorative pearl inlay and engraved gold truss rod cover.

This guitar has a ‘tar back’ Series VII humbucker in the neck position and a stamped Patent Number humbucker in the bridge, suggesting the bridge pickup is a replacement. The guitar’s coil-tap mini switch is factory original and adds a little versatility to the instrument. Pickup DC values are 10.3 (n) and 6.0 (b).

The neck has a medium C carve with a depth of .810” at the 1st fret and a nut width of 1-21/32”. The frets are replacements that are showing average wear and still play well. The guitar has been set-up in our shop with 10-46 strings. 10.4 lbs. The tailpiece is a replacement, and the original 25/50 belt buckle that would have shipped with this guitar is long gone.
