1979 Marc Beneteau 12 String

A 17” jumbo-bodied 12-string model built by Marc Beneteau in 1979, when Guild’s similarly-sized 12 string guitars were at the height of their popularity. The 12-string Jumbo offers up a lot of bass, which balances out the jangle of the light strings perfectly. This instrument features Pao Ferro back and sides, Sitka top, maple body bindings and 4-ply purflings. Mahogany neck with ivoroid-bound ebony fingerboard, and ebony bridge. Compensated nut and bone saddle, original chromed tuning machines, and heavily crazed original lacquer finish.

The guitar is in great shape, with no cracks and a good neck angle. The lacquer shows lots of fine crazing, but very little in the way of playwear, especially given that there is no pickguard. Frets are nicely dressed and play well, and the guitar is set up with a low action of 4-5 64ths. The neck has a low C carve, 1-15/16” nut width, and a scale of 25.4”.
