1982 Fender Precision Bass Special CAR

The Fender Precision Bass Special was offered from 1980 to 1982. It was the company’s first bass to feature active electronics, and was also the first P-bass in years to be made with a B-width neck. Available in Candy Apple Red, Lake Placid Blue and Olympic White – all with matching headstocks - the Precision Special deeply nodded to vintage bases, but appealed to players looking to broaden their tonal horizon. The active circuitry was switchable, allowing the option of a traditional passive Fender P-bass tone, too.

This example has been played hard but remains in great shape. Apart from some cleanly machined weight relief cavities that hide under the pickguard the instrument is completely original and in perfect working order. It’s been set-up here and plays easily.

We love the playwear to the finish on this one. Incredible to see a poly finish this worn; It looks fabulous.

The body date is 04/08/82. Nut width is 1-5/8. Neck depth is .844” at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. 10.5 lbs.

With gigbag.
