2009 Collings 290

Serial # 9530. With a nod to what they call "the original working man's rock'n roll guitar," Collings designed the 290 to be all that, and then a whole lot more. With its TV yellow finish, double P90s, slab mahogany single-cut body, the inspiration of the mid 1950's Gibson Les Paul Special is obvious; but the attention to detail, quality components, and top notch playabilty is undeniably a Collings exclusive.

Contoured mahogany body with classic limed yellow TV finish, set-in mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, medium-fat C carve, 24.75" scale and 1-11/16" bone nut. Lollar soap bar P90 pickups, wired up with high-quality USA components, Tone-Pros bridge and tailpiece, nickel hardware. Pearl headstock logo, engraved truss-rod cover, ivoroid fingerboard dots, and Sperzel tuners.

The guitar is in excellent condition, but does show a number of minor dings on the finish. Frets are unworn, and set-up is excellent. Areas of the finish show a faint dark staining caused by the guitar's original case. This is almost exclusively along the edges of the body, but a swath an inch wide is visible on the back of the neck at the 10th fret. The discoloration does not affect the feel of the instrument or the integrity of the lacquer.

The guitar is blast to play, and the neck-feel is incredible.
