2009 Santa Cruz D/PW Custom

The Santa Cruz D/PW is a lightly built dreadnought designed for increased bass presence and a darkly hued playing experience. It’s a large guitar that’s sweetly rewarding for strummers and flatpickers when strung with mediums; but lighten the string gauges a notch and the guitar opens up into a soulful fingerstyle Dreadnought that’s a great choice for those who have a lighter touch as it doesn’t take much to bring out the color this guitar has to offer.

With its herringbone top purflings and dark bindings, this D/PW has a striking and attractive look. Its Sitka top has darkened some over the decade or so since we sold it the first time around, but the guitar remains in very fine shape with only some light playwear a small assortment of minor dings, and a few areas of crazing in the finish to show for the years. It is set-up very nicely and plays cleanly and easily.

Sitka and rosewood body with black bindings, bold herringbone and matching herringbone and ivoroid rosette. Forward-shifted scalloped bracing, 1-11/16” nut width, 2-3/16” bridge pin spacing, and 25.4” scale. Gloss lacquer finish, ebony fingerboard and rosewood bridge, bone nut and saddle, SCGC open-geared tuners. An L.R. Baggs I-mix dual source pickup was installed when the guitar was new. It remains a great sounding addition.
