2011 East Virginia Guitars FP-M1

East Virginia Guitars were built by George Simmons and William Ruppert in Kilmarnock, Virginia. The FP-M1 is a mahogany and Adirondack spruce dreadnought designed with pre-WWII specs and accented with attractive purflings, snakewood bindings, pearl and abalone headstock inlays, and a bevelled tortoise celluloid pickguard.

With forward-shifted scalloped red spruce bracing and a very light build, this EVG Dreadnought has a dark, deep and warm voice that’s perfect for Dreadnought players with a light to medium right-hand attack. It offers up a lot of tone with minimal input, which makes it a great choice for solo playing.

The neck has a rounded carve that’s not unlike Martin’s current ‘Low Oval’, but with a touch more depth, and a nut width of 1-23/32”. String spread at the bridge is a vintage 2-5/16”. The guitar is set up with 12-53 strings and an action of 4-6 64ths with a lowish saddle. No cracks or repairs to report on, and very little playwear to the finish or frets.
