2012 Giacomel Model J5

The J5 Model is an avant-garde styled Jazz mandolin built in Italy by Corrado Giacomel. The instrument features a unique body design, parallel bracing, and a varnish finish. Endorsed and imported by David Grisman, Giacomel mandolins have received a warm welcome by many of the worlds most highly regarded players.

This example is in excellent condition. It has been set-up here at Folkway and plays easily with 11-40 strings. Figured maple and European spruce body with rosewood bindings and wooden purflings, ebony hardware, and hand-engraved pearl-button tuning machines. Playwear is minimal, but you will find a few tiny dings, and minor finish impressions from a headstock tuner.

The neck has a V carve with rounded shoulders, a 1” wide nut, and a tightly radiused fretboard with vintage sized frets.

With Calton case as well as the original tweed-covered hardshell case.
