Built between 2010 and 2017, the Collector's Choice series instruments from Gibson Custom are recreations of specific vintage guitars that bear significance within the music and guitar collecting communities. Much like the True Historic line produced during the same era, guitars from the Collector’s Choice series were among the most accurate and highest quality vintage reproductions instruments that Gibson had produced up to that point. While Gibson has continued to make changes to improve vintage accuracy over the last decade, Collector's Choice instruments are still among the finest instruments the company has ever built.

A recreation of a 1959 Les Paul "Burst" (serial number 9 1923) owned by collector and vintage Gibson expert, Tom Wittrock, CC #5 "Donna" is an excellent tribute to the Les Paul Standards built during the model's most legendary year of production. Much like the original guitar it is based on, this 2015 Gibson Custom Les Paul boasts a beautiful unfaded Cherry Sunburst finish over a heavily figured top. The guitar has been aged to replicate the exact wear patterns of the original '59 Burst that Gibson used as a template. This guitar is #138 of only 300 built.

Vintage accuracy and rarity aside, this 2015 offering is a truly remarkable Les Paul. A lightweight and resonant guitar with a wonderfully comfortable '50s inspired neck carve and an incredible-sounding pair of humbuckers, this "Donna" replica has all the right ingredients that make for a particularly special Les Paul. The pair of unpotted BurstBucker pickups with alnico 3 magnets deliver open, dynamic, and airy tones that are very much akin to the tonal response of genuine PAFs. The '59 neck carve is nothing short of heavenly. Expect a full C carve that feels incredibly natural and uncumbersome. At 8lbs 15oz, the guitar is about as light as you could ever expect an unchambered Les Paul to be.

While it always feels a bit funny to say about an "aged" guitar, this Les Paul is in near-mint condition. The frets are completely unworn, and the hardware is largely untarnished. Set up by our repair team with action at the 12th fret set to 4-5/64ths of an inch, this Gibson Custom Les Paul delivers excellent playability.

Scale length: 24.75", nut width: 1-11/16", 1st fret depth of 0.870" and 12th fret depth of 0.995". Pickup dc values of 8.62k in the neck and 7.19k in the bridge.
