2017 Taylor Folkway Custom 12 string Grand Concert

In 2015 we commissioned our friends at Taylor Guitars to make us a batch of custom-designed Grand Auditorium models that featured 800 series trimmings, rosewood and cedar bodies, short scale necks, and gloss finish. They sounded and looked amazing and quickly sold out. In hindsight I wish we had more of them made.

One of the clients who purchased a ‘Folkway Custom,’ as they came to be known, was so enamoured with the instrument that he commissioned a one-off Folkway Custom 12 string to match. The guitar featured all the same specs as the original GA, but was built with a Grand Concert body (as a cedar top GA 12 string with a short scale wasn’t then possible from Taylor).

A gorgeous small-body 12-fret 12-string with a lush and full voice, the Folkway Custom 12 string is built with a western red cedar top and X bracing, with Taylor’s CV bracing, and a lovely set of rosewood for the back and sides. The body is bound in ivoroid and features a pearl rosette and bound soundhole. The 12 fret neck features an ebony fingerboard that’s bound with matching ivoroid and fitted with a micro-dot inlay pattern, bone nut, gold tuning machines and a pearl logo. We’ve installed a K&K pickup as well.

The guitar is in gorgeous condition and is perfectly set-up. The gloss finish shows next to no playwear and the frets are barely used.

1-7/8” nut width, 24-7/8” scale.
