2019 Aleyas LF-5

Aleyas mandolins are crafted in Charleston, West Virginia by Lee Chapman. This LF-5 features bird’s eye maple back, sides, and neck, a red spruce top, Waverly tuning machines with pearl buttons, James tailpiece, and a bound ebony pickguard. Varnish finish, Loar F-5 style bindings and purflings, pearl nut, adjustable bridge, radiused fingerboard with scooped extension and guitar-sized fretwire.

The instrument shows only the slightest of playwear and is set-up nicely. V-carved neck with 1-1/8” nut width.

A very strong F-5 with excellent chop, a pleasing amount of warmth down low and thickness up top, and excellent headroom. Plenty of fundamental presence, and enough cut to get you noticed in a loud jam, but ample openness to keep things pretty when played solo. It’s a great sounding F-5.
