2019 Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged
Built with a VTS Adirondack red spruce top, hide glue construction, T-bar neck reinforcement, and Authentic 1937 bracing, the D-28 Authentic 1937 has a bold, powerful, dark, and strong voice. It’s an incredible flat-picker and strummer and will hold off the advances of the next banjo you’re destined to sit next to at the jam. If you want a loud martin, this is the one.
The neck has an accurate carve, modelled after an original ’37 D-28 that Martin has in their museum. It has a contemporary feel with a heavily rounded V in the first position, filling out as you get to the higher positions with a width of 2-1/4” at the 12th fret. String spread at the bridge is 2-5/16”.
Vintage low-gloss finish with subtle aging, lacquer crazing, and light playwear. The distressing is quite mild and tame, which gives the guitar a ‘closet-classic’ kind of look, if we can borrow that term from Fender.
Old-style headstock logo, aged Waverly butterbean tuners, ebony fingerboard with abalone diamond and squares inlays, herringbone and zigzag trim, under-finish tortoise pickguard, glued-in through-cut saddle, unslotted bridge pins and 30’s style endpin.
The Harptone case has a distinctly vintage look, and you’ll find the guitar’s Authentic 1930s style pricetag in the case pocket.
The guitar is in brand-new, unplayed condition, but is pre-owned.
